The Montane Men's Cetus Waterproof Jacket is a high-performance hardshell that offers exceptional breathability. Built using our new PETRICHOR TECHNOLOGY™, the Cetus jacket has a recycled nylon 30D ripstop outer that will give you excellent weather protection (20,000mm hydrostatic head). Designed to breathe as you move, the hydrophilic membrane within the Cetus jacket transports water vapour and moisture away from the body during long hikes or mountain expeditions. The harder you work, the harder this durable waterproof jacket works to ensure comfortable, efficient movement in the mountains.
Montane’s PETRICHOR 3-layer technology delivers waterproof (20,000mm Hydrostatic Head), exceptionally breathable performance to the Cetus Jacket. It scores a RET rating of less than 5, which means it is ideally suited for high-output activities in the outdoors, where it will remain breathable to keep you dry inside and out. This is achieved through the windproof, non-porous hydrophilic membrane that transports water vapour and moisture away from the body, an effect that increases in strength as you work harder. The 3-layer construction sandwiches the waterproof membrane between a 100% recycled, 21D Ripstop nylon face fabric and the lining, for improved durability and next-to-skin comfort.
The Montane Men's Cetus Waterproof Jacket has been built using offset seams. Instead of lining different seams up with each other where they meet on the garment, offsetting them enables us to reduce the number of seams needed during construction, as well as its weight, and boosts the lifespan of the garment. This is one of the reasons why the more durable 3-layer construction remains lightweight. Seams are further reduced by having the peak, hem and cuff tabs laminated, a process that also increases durability in those areas.
